On September 12, 2023, LGU Buruanga was the only municipality awarded by the Department of Agriculture- Philippine Rice Research Institute as the most outstanding locality in Region 6 under the small scale category for its contribution and performance in the implementation of Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund-Seed and Extension Program for 2023 Wet Season.

Mayor Concepcion P. Labindao, together with Ms. Jorgia Amor Dagohoy, MAO-OIC and her staff Mrs. Junelyn Prado, received the award at Cancilayan, Murcia.
